Former Trump Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, has pled not guilty for his upcoming trial in Arizona. Meadows was charged along with Trump electors in Arizona over their dispute of who won the state in 2020. America’s News Desk says:
Mark Meadows, the former chief of staff of the White House, and Michael Roman, a former aide to President Trump, reportedly entered a plea of not guilty on Friday to nine felony charges that were associated with their efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 presidential election in Arizona.
The attorneys for the two defendants entered their not guilty pleas at separate proceedings, which were conducted virtually. The trial is scheduled for October 31.
Meadows and Roman are merely two of the 18 individuals who have been charged in a comprehensive indictment that pertains to the alleged actions of the defendants in 2020 to delegitimize President Biden’s victory in the state and fraudulently declare former President Trump the winner.
Last month, Rudy Giuliani, the former counsel for President Trump, Kelli Ward, the former chair of the Arizona Republican Party, and numerous other individuals who were implicated in the case entered pleas of not guilty to all charges.
The 11 individuals who signed documents claiming to be the legitimate electors in Arizona and fraudulently asserting that Trump had won the state’s 11 electoral votes, as well as Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn and attorneys Jenna Ellis, John Eastman, and Christina Bobb, are among those who have been charged.
Meadows was accused by prosecutors of collaborating with Trump campaign members to submit fabricated electors from Arizona and other states to Congress in order to assert that Trump had won.
The indictment contended that Roman collaborated with other defendants, including Giuliani and Epshteyn, to coordinate the fabricated electors.
Roman was the director of Election Day operations for Trump’s 2020 campaign.
Meadows and Roman have also been accused in connection with efforts to overturn the election results in Georgia and have pleaded not guilty.
Arizona is one of five states in which accusations have been filed against individuals who attempted to overturn the election results.
Meadows plan was a legal attempt to contest election results, which ultimately went to Joe Biden. The retaliation against him and other conservative activists is skillfully timed for the 2024 election in an attempt to discredit Trump and his supporters when Biden is floundering in the polls.
