Joe Biden is releasing a new policy that could prevent over half a million of illegal aliens from being deported. The rule would apply to spouses of US citizens who have been in the country for 10 years, an exact figure that is unknown but could be high. America’s News Desk says:

President Joe Biden has now unveiled new regulations on Tuesday that will shield up to half a million illegal immigrants from deportation.

According to The New York Times, which cited sources familiar with the idea, the Biden administration’s new policy would facilitate the process for undocumented immigrants married to residents of the United States to obtain permanent status.

The official announcement on Tuesday would commemorate the 12-year anniversary of President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which shielded certain immigrants who entered the country illegally as minors from deportation.

The news was originally reported last week.

According to the Times, officials from the Biden administration who were informed on the new policy anticipate that it may impact as many as 500,000 undocumented immigrants, though the precise figure is still unknown.

Some undocumented immigrant spouses of citizens of the United States would have an easier time applying for work permits and permanent residency under the new regulations put in place by the Department of Homeland Security.

On Tuesday, the president is also anticipated to unveil an additional regulation that would facilitate the acquisition of work permits for DACA beneficiaries, popularly known as “Dreamers.”

In the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, voters are voicing their concerns about illegal immigration, and Biden is responding to these concerns with regulations pertaining to immigration.

According to a White House information sheet on the new safeguards, in order to be eligible, illegal immigrants must be lawfully married to an American and have been in the US for at least ten years.

After three years, an authorized illegal immigrant under Biden’s program may seek for permanent residency and may be granted a work permit for a maximum of three years. A stark change from previous rules.

More than protecting these illegal aliens, this is a signifier to his base that Biden does not see illegal immigration as a threat to the nation but as a political opportunity.
