Hamas has reportedly accepted a ceasefire agreement with Israel. While the specifics are not hammered out, this will likely result in the trade of Israeli hostages for time. Hamas will likely resupply its fighters to the best of their ability, but further options are being dramatically cut down as the war goes on. America’s News Desk says:

The terror group Hamas has now reportedly agreed to a ceasefire agreement with Israel. The news comes after Israel announced that it would be going ahead with its attack on Rafah, the group’s last remaining stronghold in Gaza.

The announcement makes no mention of the specific terms in question.

As Hamas has repeatedly demanded, Israel has stated unequivocally that it will not accept an agreement that requires the release of hostages prior to the conclusion of the conflict.

Additionally, on Saturday, a government source, presumed to be Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that Israel had not granted the mediators the authority to issue guarantees regarding the cessation of hostilities.

In recent days, Qatari, Egyptian, and U.S. mediators have been in discussions with Hamas regarding a three-phase proposal that Israel has approved.

Reportedly, the initial phase of the unpublished proposal calls for the release of 33 living hostages—females, children, senior citizens, and the ailing—during a forty-day ceasefire. In exchange, hundreds of Palestinian security detainees would be released.

Meanwhile, the Houthis in Yemen have continued to strike ships bound for or allied to Israel. While damage is minimal, the true danger comes from shutting down traffic to the Suez Canal. Student protests in America have likely not done much, though the Houthis have allegedly invited them to live and fight in Yemen if they get expelled from school.
