George Clooney recently wrote an op-ed asking for Biden to step down. This has caused a storm, as Clooney is the first actor to call Biden to step down. The debate over Biden stepping down is now growing, requiring more resources by the campaign to put it out. Trump made the most of the opportunity, sowing further confusion. America’s News Desk says:
Following the actor’s op-ed in which he urged President Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, former President Trump took aim at George Clooney.
Longtime Democratic supporter and presidential fundraiser Clooney referred to Biden as a “friend” but claimed the incumbent had changed for the worse when it comes to his health and mental acuity.
“So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act. He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are. What does Clooney know about anything?” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“He uses the Democrat “talking point” that Biden, the WORST President in the history of the United States, has “saved our Democracy.” No, Crooked Joe was the one who WEAPONIZED Law Enforcement against his political Opponent, who created the most devastating INFLATION in the history of our Country, who Embarrassed our Nation in Afghanistan, and whose crazy Open Border Policy has allowed millions of people to illegally pour into our Country, many from prisons and mental institutions.” he continued.
“Crooked Joe Biden didn’t save our Democracy, he brought our Democracy to its knees. Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!” he concluded.
A rising number of Democrats, including Clooney, have publicly urged the president to withdraw from the race following his unsatisfactory performance versus Trump in the presidential debate last month.
There have been significant questions about Biden’s age, mental health, and capacity to not only defeat Trump in November but also serve a further four years after his disastrous debate performance.
Biden is set to publicly speak on Thursday in an attempt to energize his base. Should this go sideways, Biden will have an even bigger fire to put out.
