GOP Governor Wants to Fix Ballot Issue

As of right now, Joe Biden will not be able to appear on the ballot in Ohio for November. This is due to a late Democrat Convention which is passed the legal deadline. GOP Governor Mike DeWine will instead try to get the assembly to modify the law for this election. America’s News Desk reports:

Next week, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R) will reportedly convene a special session of the state legislature to guarantee that President Joe Biden is included on the November ballot.

The deadline for submitting a ballot in the Buckeye State is August 7. Nevertheless, the Democratic National Convention will not take place until August 19-22.

Additionally, the Ohio legislature has become ensnared in the debate over the exclusion of foreign funds from ballot referendum campaigns.

DeWine declared on Thursday that he would convene an uncommon special session to resolve Biden’s ballot access.

“Ohio is running out of time to get Joe Biden, the sitting President of the United States, on the ballot this fall. Failing to do so is simply unacceptable. This is ridiculous. This is an absurd situation. I’ve waited. I’ve been patient. And my patience has run out.” DeWine said.

The inaugural extraordinary session of the state since 2004 will take place.

In 2020, Biden lost Ohio to Donald Trump by eight percentage points, a similar outcome to Hillary Clinton’s loss in 2016.

The 2020 election marked the first time since 1960 that Ohio did not cast a ballot for the overall victor.

Alabama enacted legislation earlier this month to guarantee that Biden will be included on the ballot in the state.

The state also had a certification deadline prior to the Democratic convention.

Since Jimmy Carter’s election in 1976, Alabama has not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate.

While tempting to exclude the unfavored candidate from a state ballot, taking the step to give all Americans the choice is important to legitimize the next President. Democrats have previously tried to block Trump from appearing on the ballot based on fake Constitutional claims.
